St Albans Museums is looking for a dynamic and passionate Museums Business Manager

Full-time, inclusive salary of £44,271 to £48,108 per year + essential car user allowance + up to 18.5% employer pension contribution

St Albans Museums runs several sites including Verulamium Museum, the 15th century Clock Tower and the new St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre. In this new post you will ensure the delivery of a high-quality and financially viable Museum service that delivers in partnership with stakeholders on the objective of making our city and district a centre of excellence for culture and heritage.

In this new post you will ensure the delivery of a high-quality and financially viable Museum service that delivers in partnership with stakeholders on the objective of making our city and district a centre of excellence for culture and heritage. With overall lead responsibility for the Council’s museum and wider heritage services, you will represent the Council on all culture and heritage related issues.

You will drive forward both the strategic and commercial direction of the Museum Service by managing the various teams that ensure:

  • the museums venues are operated in an efficient, safe and effective manner;
  • the targets and outcomes for lettings, retail and fundraising are achieved;
  • exhibitions, learning activities and collections care are of the highest standards and;
  • grant funding is sourced and strong relationships are formed with funders, sponsors and key stakeholders.

You will ensure the services and products offered are delivered to very high professional standards. Experience of driving commercial revenue and activities, partnership working and stakeholder engagement is essential for this post. In addition, previous experience of working in a senior role within an arts, cultural or heritage sector is essential for this post.
