The Treasury Select Committee inquiry into the impact of business rates on business concluded in 2019 issued its report in October 2019.  The report is critical of the current business rate system and recommends a comprehensive Government review in 2020. The inquiry found that none of the alternatives aired during the inquiry were viable, hence the urgent need for a formal review:
